Ad hoc Work Item

Data Model
A Data Model is a definition of a data access, implemented as an API call, SQL query or other access method, defining a Data Set with input and output variables, and criteria’s when applicable.

Function
A Function in Comflow is one Workspace Workflow giving access to a collection of well defined services to a user. A Function can also be a (non workspace) workflow giving service to another system (i.e. not to an end user). The function is thereby the authorization level and can be controlled via Comflow Function Access. The design time component for a function is called a Task.

Metadata Repository
This repository holds the metadata definition of available data interfaces described at a non applied level. These interfaces are usually DB structures, but can also be descriptions of API's or other data structures.

Process
A Process or Process Workflow in Comflow is a collection of rules specifying who should do what at a specific point in time. A Process in Comflow is normally an Executable Process (a physical object in the BRR(?)) referring to a number of Functions. However, it can also be a collection of functions making up a Conceptual Process (not a physical object)..

Task
A task is a general definition of the work that needs to be done. It may or may not have a connection to the actual function and related data in the form of a work reference.

Workspace
A Workspace or Workspace Workflow is an interaction flow with a user. Technically it is a collection of portlets (views), documents (printouts) and rules controlling the interaction with a user.
Work Item
A Work Item is a general description of the task to perform and possibly the related work reference toghether with the assigned role and user that shall perform the task. Via the Work Item the user is guided directly to the work reference and the Work Item holds the status of the task performance.
Work Reference
A reference to a function and related data where the completion of a task is supposed to take place.
